We supports students with quality education at the levels of primary, secondary, vocational and university. Most students in the country drop out of school as early as 13 years and girls are impregnated at 15 years as per initial assessments done in different districts.
We partner with schools to enable subsidizing of school fees and scholastic materials for students without assistance and full scholarships for the orphaned to ease access to quality education. Our target is 1000 students residing in the remote areas of the country and the less privileged. We support gender inclusive education which advocates for the girl’s education and gender equality in schooling, children with disabilities and children from the marginalised and vulnerable groups/communities.
Primary and Secondary Education
The primary and secondary education provides the backbone knowledge. In addition to school fees, Beyond Light Foundation with support from individuals, partners and donors provides scholastic materials that include; uniforms, books, pens, pencils, shoes, geometry sets for all and sanitary pads for the girl child. We provide textbooks, learning kits and other essential educational materials to beneficiary schools.
Tertiary Education
Our program supports students in vocational institutions that impart skills through the BTVET system for uniformity with the country’s standards. The students are able to implement what is applicable in their district and the country at large. This program serves students from the primary level who are unable to continue with the national secondary system. The training covers computer science, building, that is, brick making and brick laying, carpentry, tailoring, baking, agriculture and other skills that equip them with survival and hands on sustainable skills. Some students are supported to the university level.
Psychosocial Support
Our program provides emotional and psychological support to children suffering mental illness, trauma and pain. The war in the Northern part of Uganda exposed children to unrest, school drop outs, abductions, SGDV and early child pregnancies. Beyond Light Foundation provides counselling services, medical camps and support income generating activities.
